Obligations to master the requirements

Section 18 of the Building Act confirms the obligation of designers to comply with the Construction Code on penalty of fines or penal proceedings.

The two codes are adopted chapter by chapter and are gradually replacing other statutes and the 30-odd regulations that applied previously. The purpose of this approach is obviously to simplify regulation but also to better define the responsibilities of construction professionals and owners.

In your capacity as a designer, you must obtain the tools necessary to properly interpret the Construction Code, in particular through training.

Drawings and specifications

Designers, architects, engineers, technologists and other professionals involved in construction or the installation of equipment must comply with the standards in the Construction Code governing the conception of drawings and specifications.

Such drawings and specifications must be available on the worksite at the request of RBQ inspectors.
