Contractors with claims

As stipulated in the Regulation respecting the professional qualification of contractors and owner-builders, a 6-month period starts when the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) receives a first claim against the licence security regarding a contractor.

This time period is intended to allow other clients to file a claim against the same contractor.

To find out easily if a contractor is currently the subject of a claim file or if they have paid indemnities in the past 5 years, consult the following tables:

Filing a claim

If you wish to add a claim to an open file, you have to submit your claim during the 6-month period. After this deadline, it will only be accepted if funds remain in the licence bond.
