Pre-purchase inspection

Planning to buy a residential property? Before making an appointment with the notary, have your future home inspected by a professional!

As of October 1, 2024, the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) issues certificates to residential building inspectors who perform inspections for real estate transactions (pre-purchase).

On October 1, 2027, this certificate will become mandatory for all inspectors wishing to practise in Québec.

Why hire an inspector with a valid certificate?

When you do business with an RBQ-certified inspector, you’re hiring a professional who has met the certification requirements, including qualifications, probity and financial guarantees to protect you.

To find a certified inspector or to check the validity of a certificate, consult our repertory:

All inspectors holding a valid certificate are listed there. Those with certificates that have been invalid for 5 years or less are also listed.
