Please note that our processing times are currently longer than usual. As of June 10, 2026, we are processing applications received on the following dates:

  • Priority applications: May 6, 2026
  • Regular applications: April 16, 2026

Licence security

Obtain licence security

Licence security can be obtained in several ways:
  • through several contractors’ associations
  • from some insurance companies
  • from most surety companies.

Amount required

The amount of security required depends on your type of licence: If you hold both general and specialized subclasses, the required amount is $40,000.

Replace licence security

If you change your surety company, you must notify the Régie du bâtiment du Québec as soon as possible by completing the form Notice of licence security replacement [Fr] – PDF (570 KB).
