Experience as a guarantor

In some situations, a person may be exempt from writing an examination in order to obtain a licence – for example, if they have experience serving as a guarantor in the five years preceding their licence application.

The person applying for a licence, or their guarantor, may be exempt from writing the examination in

  • Administration – if, in the five years preceding the licence application, they served as administration guarantor for the selected class or subclass, and the examination covers that class or subclass.
  • Construction site safety management – if, in the five years preceding the licence application, they served as construction site safety management guarantor for the selected class or subclass, and the examination covers that class or subclass.
  • Project and site management – if, in the five years preceding the licence application, they served as project and site management guarantor for the selected class or subclass, and the examination covers that class or subclass.
  • Carrying out of construction work – if, in the five years preceding the licence application, they served as guarantor for the carrying out of construction work for the selected subclass.

To be exempted, the licence applicant or the applicant's respondent must check the "Skills already recognized" box in the space provided for this purpose on the licence application form.
