The Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) wishes to remind you that the products that are not approved constitute safety risks. You should always require appliances and equipment meeting existing standards.
Every gas-powered equipment or appliance sold in the province of Quebec must be approved by an organization which is recognized by the RBQ. These certification agencies are. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the recognized organizations:
These organizations must affix their seal or label to attest to the compliance of the equipment or appliance with Canadian standards. The products certified by a certification agency which is not Canadian must bear the indication “c” in lower case character, at the 8 ’o clock position on the seal or label.
As this requirement has been in force only since February 24, 1999, one may find products bearing the certification marking without that “c” indication, such as:
Other organizations could be recognized by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). Consult the Directory of Accredited Product to know their scope of accreditation.
