The RBQ and plumbing

In Québec, plumbing comes under the authority of the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ). RBQ responsibilities with regard to this sector of activity are:

• ensuring the quality of construction work in plumbing facilities
• ensuring the safety of the public using the facilities
• monitoring the facilities' compliance with construction and safety requirements.

Mandatary

Acting as mandatory of the government du Québec, the Corporation des maîtres mécaniciens en tuyauterie du Québec (CMMTQ) sees to the administration and implementation of the Building Act in connection with the professional qualifications of its members. As part of its mandate, the CMMTQ assumes specific responsibility for licensing contractors to do plumbing and heating work.
