Arbitration decisions

The Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) provides two tools for consulting the arbitration decisions rendered under the arbitration mechanism provided for in the Regulation respecting the guarantee plan for new residential buildings . Recourse to arbitration is available to beneficiaries (consumers) and contractors who do not agree with a decision made by the administrator of the Guarantee Plan.

In accordance with a service agreement, the Société québécoise d’information juridique (SOQUIJ) has been designated by the RBQ, with the agreement of the arbitration bodies, to:

• summarize arbitration decisions;
• summarize subsequent judgments rendered by the courts with respect to arbitration decisions;
• index the content of decisions according to a predetermined list of subjects;
  make available the full text of the summarized decisions.

Consult the decisions

To consult the decisions,  you can search by subject or by contractor’s name. By selecting a subject or contractor’s name, you will obtain related decision summaries. If you wish, you will also be able to read the full text of a decision by clicking on the title.

The database contains the decisions sent to the RBQ by the arbitration bodies.
